What’s a linear actuator?

A linear actuator is a mechanical device that develops force and motion, from an available energy source, in a linear manner, as opposed to rotationally like an electric motor.  A feedback or Potentiometer linear actuator is a linear actuator with the additional function of a potentiometer, which is used to read the position of shaft during movement.
